Benefits of Membership

Your membership in the Nansemond River Power Squadron has multiple benefit opportunities. You can enjoy Educational Programs, Social Activities on and off the water, and National Benefits and Pricing Discounts.

Educational Programs

The primary class available to the public is the Basic Boating Safety Class. You do not have to be a member to take this class which in VA will be mandatory for all who captain a boat after 2015.

 

Members will join with other knowledgeable boaters in our area who are familiar with the local waters, the best anchorages, marinas, and boat repair shops.

 

As a member of the Squadron you are able to enroll in a great variety of advanced courses and elective courses which are only available to United States Power Squadron (USPS) members. Here are examples of what is available:

Social Activities on and off the water

Members are automatically invited to join in the squadron and district cruises, rendezvous, predicted log contests, raftings, and other on-water activities.

 

Go to our Event-Photo page to get a sense of the fun we have on and off the water. Each cruise or "day-tripper" function gives us a chance to interact with the membership and find out about things in the squadron's area of involvement.

Members have the benefit of a NATIONAL Organization dedicated to supporting you and your boating adventure.

 

Members can qualify for significant marine insurance discounts provided to those who complete advanced boating courses.

 

Members have access to names and telephone numbers of Port Captains for distant rivers, lakes, and coastal oceans who know the territory.

 

Members receive a discount with BOAT/US.
