2009 NRPS Accomplishments

Congratulations to the members of the Nansemond River Power Squadron.

For the Year 2009, here is what we accomplished:

5 Cruises

1 New Instructor

198 Vessels Inspected

3 New Pilots

89 Students participated in various classes

10 new members

Increase in treasury (thanks to auction)

Developed Second Flares for Life Event

Website Excellence Award, Ranked #1 in District 5

Butch Baxter, Lilly Stone, Tom Chapman and Ron Murphy received Commander Awards for Service for 2009.

NRPS received the Website Excellence Award for 2009.

Our site was ranked #1.

 

Tom Chapman, SN (r)  is recognized by CDR Lin Hanbury, AP with the Charles F. Chapman Award for Excellence in Teaching for 2009. This award recognizes outstanding USPS instructors.

Nansemond River is recognized with the Prince Henry award for educational performance of the squadron, with an emphasis on celestial navigation. Above is the alabaster statue of Prince Henry. It will be on display at the Change-of-Watch on March 13, 2010.

 SEO Lilly Stone, JN, accepts the award from D/C Ralph Bernard, AP as a representative of Portugal looks on.

The GAID (Gosh Am I Dumb) award was officially retired March 14, 2009 and presented to Maxann Morrison in memory of her husband, P/C George Morrison.
