Flares for Life - 17 April  20108 - On the James River

Note: scroll to bottom for interview from Virginian Pilot online.

The Nansemond River Power Squadron (NRPS)  hosted the 2nd annual FLARES FOR LIFE on Saturday, 17 April 2010, at Pig's Pt on the James River (old Tidewater Community College Portsmouth Campus site.) As anticipated, the event made it possible again for the boating public to safely and legally dispose of their old, outdated flares and fire extinguishers while at the same time gain valuable hands-on experience in the safe operation of both. Thanks to more than 30 members of the squadron, people returned from last year and came for the first time. More than 300 hand flares were disposed of and almost all who attended had a chance to fire aeriel VSDs.
